Why You Should Make a Copy of Your Customer's Checks
It only takes a minute, but it can save you many hours and more dollars months or years down the line. When you set up a customer's file, include a copy of that first check. Thereafter, compare subsequent checks to the one on file. It's very instructive. Has your customer found a bank with lower rates, or is it a sign of trouble? And if you ever obtain a judgment against that customer, collecting on that judgment will be speeded up if you have a copy of the latest check.
